What means NEVA MASQUERADE?
Race neva masquerade is the sibling race of Siberian cats. The neva has characteristic points (shadier than the rest of the body colour) on the face, i.e. "mask", ears, hands, the tail and genitals. First cats of this type have appeared probably in Russia of the tsar Ivan the Terrible. First part of the name Neva masquerade they owe to the river Neva which is flowing through Petersburg, second one is referring to sumptuous masked balls organized during the tsar's times.
The lively temperament and the rich personality are describing nevas psyche. They are very intelligent, curious, friendly and loyal, as well as exceptionally tied with the caretaker They and their sibling race - Siberian cats - they are often named "dogs in the feline skin". They like caresses, plays and they are - important for small cildren's parents - extremely patient. They don't like loneliness and they are demanding caresses aloud. They are too a better caretaker than many of dogs - when they can sense presence of strangers, they are snarling in the characteristic way. They are adapting to new conditions relatively easily and they are enduring travels well, so they are also good companions for persons liking departures. They are very communicative and they often lead revived "conversations" with caretaker. A voice of nevas is the true variety of colours and sounds. There is no aggression in them; they are rather avoiding brawls and home conflicts.
Maintenance of the coat of the neva isn't inconvenient because their fur isn't showing tendency towards ruffling. It will be enough to comb it 2-3 times in the week with the thick crest, paying the special attention of the belly, trousers (thighs) and armpits.
Average weight of cats of this race it's from 3 kg - females, for 7 kg - males. This cat mature long reaching full of physical development after 3-4 years. Theirs massive bones are long, and the trunk is muscle-bound . Feet have tufts of hair between fingers. They are natural protecting pads against cold of snow. The neva has long, hairy tail rounded at the end. The head is average size with rounded line of the jaw line, with the convex nose, gently forehead, and prominent cheeks. Ears of the neva are big, mounted high, with long brushes of hair inside. Color of eyes of nevas is only blue. Hair of these cats is the beautiful, lush ruffle around the neck, on back trousers. Hair is shorter on shoulders and the neck; on the belly and the back - longer and more thick. In the winter coat is bigger than in the summer.
Kittens of nevas are born entirely white, they catch color points around 4-20 days after birth.
From 1.01.2009 year FIFe federation recognized the new race of cats tentatively - Neva masquerade (EMS code - NEM) as the sibling race of Siberian cats and thanks to it cats can to get certyficates on FIFe and to obtain titles of champion and interchampion.
Neva masquerade it is not so much difficult race in maintenance, interesting of world and cheerful - perfect choice for everyone who is dreaming about the own cat.
